Class, as some of you state, the first step in the communication planning for a project is to perform a stakeholder analysis. A stakeholder is anyone involved in or impacted by a project. I used to work on a lot of large construction projects, for example with the City of Chicago. Stakeholder identification and communication with stakeholder groups was key on these projects, especially when traffic flow on major highways could be disrupted. As it's something we are all somewhat familiar with, (unless you've never been caught in construction traffic delays!), let's start a stakeholder identification for a major, (6 month or so), downtown construction project in a large city. Identify the stakeholder group, and state how they might be impacted. I've already identified commuters, who may be delayed by construction. Once we've identified the major groups, we can discuss how communications should be targeted.
