Culture Shock Assignment
The assignment is to A short paper describing an incident or experience that created some sort of culture shock situation for you. Be sure to read the relevant chapter material first!
Your paper should be typed, double spaced, and seven hundred and fifty words (three to four pages) long. You may write more if necessary. Think of a situation in which you felt out of place, uncomfortable, etc. You may refer to Ch. 2 in the text and the PowerPoint slides in the Ch. 2 module for help in identifying a culture shock experience. Your paper should contain the following elements:
- A brief description of the circumstances that created culture shock for you
- Some description of how you perceived the situation, how you felt (your "symptoms")
- What happened to alleviate your sense of culture shock
- What, if anything, you took away from the experience
