Topic - Tobacco Use
Instructions
Students will prepare a 5-7 page (not including cover page and reference page) paper reviewing a public health issue of interest.
Required content includes defining your topic, identifying why your topic is a public health concern and to describe how the three core functions of public health (assessment, policy development, and assurance) are currently used to improve your chosen public health concern.
The student will use a minimum of 3 references to include text books, and at least one peer reviewed journal article.
The student will not utilize unsubstantiated resources from the internet (i.e. wikipedia). If your reference does not identify an author and a date of publication it is likely not a reliable source of information and should not be used.The paper should be in APA format.
All papers will use double spacing and 11-12 font size saved using a Microsoft Word file format. The associated components will be due as follows:

a. Tobacco is known to be the leading cause of death in the United State, approximately 540,000 is known to be the total annual number of deaths related to smoking.
b. The purpose of this paper is to define tobacco and explain why tobacco is a public health concern, and how the three core functions of public health impact tobacco.
