Chose an education institute which has not yet deployed a fully integrated management information system and design a “Learning management information system” to ensure efficient and effective exchange of information for efficient and effective decision making with in the chosen institute.
The assignment is comprised of two phases. You should submit a report comprised of phase 1 and 2 for the final evaluation.
Phase 1 Situation Analysis
You should carry out an analytical study on the institute to identify its main stakeholders, assess the exchange of information amongst the main stakeholders and evaluate the existing process and technology of communication through which the exchange of information happens.
Your analysis should adequately cover the following criteria and should be provided as the phase 1 in your report.
1. Identify the Range of decisions to be taken in different levels of the selected institute.
2. Review information and Knowledge needed to ensure effective decision taking at each level.
3. Assess the internal and external sources of information and understanding required to take decisions at different levels.
4. Identify personal including customers, other stakeholders and other experts.
5. Evaluating the existing process of communication in the institute and look to ensure and improve appropriateness.
6. Evaluate existing approaches to the collection, formatting, storage, disseminating information and knowledge.
Phase 2 the solution.
Using the background information from phase 1, suggest appropriate changes to improve the communication process, technology used in communication process and people who carry out the communication process.
While designing an appropriate system for the collection, storage and disseminating of and access to the information and knowledge gathered for effective and efficient knowledge and information exchange create strategies to increase personal networking to widen involvement in the decision-making process.
Your solution should adequately cover the following criteria and should be presented in the form of an integrated solution as the phase 2 in your report.
a. Make recommendation for improvement of information and knowledge needs internally and externally to improve decision making and taking at different levels.
b. Create strategies to increase personal networking to widen involvement in the decision-making process by,
1. Making contact with identified stakeholders and developing business relationships
2. Involving those identified stakeholders in decision making as appropriate
3. Suggesting strategies for improvement
c. Develop communication process to improve the gathering and dissemination of information and organizational knowledge. Implement and justify improvements to ensure greater integration of systems of communication in the institute.
d. Assuming it is applicable to all the employees of the institute, identify weaknesses and develop a personal plan to improve communication skills on a personal level
e. Design and improve appropriate systems for the collection, storage and dissemination of and access to the information and knowledge gathered.
