Chief Complaint and Patient's Expectations
It is extremely vital to know what the patient really wants.
1. The chief complaint should be recorded in patient's own words as far as possible.
2. Thereafter you should elaborate on the chief problem so as to extrapolate data from it so as to understand the nature of the problem.
3. It is very important to understand the patient's expectation and desires and discuss with the patient as to what is achievable in real terms. It is important to exclude those patients with Psychiatric problems (Neurosis, Drug abuse, etc).
