Problem: Although the US Postal Service is a public sector organization, how does it exhibit some the characteristics of a small business or an entrepreneurial venture? Your previous answer indicated some of the characteristics of a private business. All of which were correct, but apparently my professor believes that the US Postal Service has some characteristics that are similar to the small business or an entrepreneurial venture. Characteristics of a small business include: independently owned, operated, and financed; fewer than 100 employees; does not emphasize new or innovative practices; and has little impact on industry. The characteristics of an entrepreneurial venture include: innovative strategic practices; strategic goals are profitability and growth; seeks out new opportunities; and is willing to take risks. I think it exhibits some of the characteristics of the entrepreneurial venture. Any thoughts.
