Characteristic flame colour: specific metals and their salts impart particular colours to Bunsen burner flame.
(1) Pb (plumbum) impart pale greenish colour to the flame.
(2) Cu and Cu salts impart blue or green colour to the flame.
(3) Borates as well impart green colour to the flame.
(4) Ba and its salts impart apple green colour to the flame.
(5) Sr imparts crimson red colour to the flame.
(6) Ca imparts brick red colour to the flame.
(7) Na imparts yellow colour to the flame.
(8) K imparts pink-violet (Lilac) colour to the flame.
(9) Li imparts crimson-red, Rb imparts violet and Cs imparts violet colours to the flame.
(10) Livid- blue flame is given by As, Sb and Bi.
