A meter stick having a mass of around 0.160 kg is pivoted around one end so it can rotate without friction around a horizontal axis. The meter stick is held in a horizontal position and free. As it swings through the vertical, compute (i) the change in gravitational potential energy which has occurred; (ii) the angular speed of the stick; (iii) the linear speed of the end of stick opposite the axis. (iv) Compare the answer in part (iii) to the speed of a particle which has fallen 1.00 m, beginning from rest.
