Challenging the current intersected forms of oppression

Assignment task:

1. Drawing from Anna Nieto and Sonia A. Lopez' readings, what were Chicanas speaking out against? What was the pushback that they faced when they spoke out and what was at least one way that Chicanas resisted this pushback? Be specific and highlight examples from our readings from this week.

2. How does the ONE film that you chose to watch either the Dolores documentary or No Más Bebés documentary relate to any of our two readings by Anna Nieto Gomez and or Sonia A. Lopez and or the song lyrics from Antipatriarcha by Ana Tijoux?

3. What do these forms of resistance teach us about challenging the current intersected forms of oppression that sadly, our communities continue to experience today, such as sexism, racism, patriarchy, and gendered violence? What solutions would you like to propose to combat these social injustices?

4. Interactive Activity - I invite you to take and upload one picture, i.e. of either an item that you have, person (with consent), sketch, poster, - it can be of something or someone, that relates to our class themes/concepts of this week around Chicana(s)! Challenging patriarchy and traditional family and gender roles. Please describe why you have chosen to share this particular picture and how it connects to our class topics.
