The post is: My dissertation topic is the challenges that police departments have when responding to active shooter events. This topic resonates with me because my previous profession I was a Second lieutenant in United States Army, I served as a Military Police Corp and in the Special Operations Community after completing a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. During that time, I responded to active shooter events to include being part of the reactive force as a Military Police Officer at Fort Bragg North Carolina during the events of October 17, 1995.Another reason why this topic resonates with me is when another soldier opened fire at the Luigi's restaurant in Fayetteville North Carolina August 6, 1993.What importance that the literature is saying First, for police department to be able to respond adequately to active shooter events the policy of defunding police officers needs to be lifted cross the country so police departments can have access to funding to train their police officers and properly equipped their officers.
