Assignment task:
Many feminist artists have focused on the female body as the subject of their art. This is interesting because the female body is already the subject of many art works by male artists, and of course it is the subject of advertising, film, TV, and porn. How do feminist artists challenge the representation of the female body in other media?
Most people, however, do not see feminist art. But there are also instagram pages and other social media sites that are challenging the representation of the female body through "body acceptance" accounts or #fatacceptance accounts. There are also accounts that challenge the white female beauty ideal such as @blackineveryshade and #myblackisbeautiful. Discuss those accounts. Are they more effective than, say, feminist art? Why or why not?
