CAUSES OF EXTINCTION -
1. HUNTING -
- Man started hunting wild animlas for food and safety trade and fun. It may be subsistence hunting, commercial hunting and sport hunting.
- Now large scale killing has started for skin, fur, leather feathers, horn, ivory & meat etc.
- Dodo (Raphus) of Moritius and chetah have recently disappeared due to excessive hunting.
- Elephants & Rhinoceros are class to extinction due to hunting for ivory and horns.
- Whales (blue whale) are about to extinct due to hunting for oil & whale bone.
- Small musk deer is hunted for musk (used in perfumes).
2. FOREST FIRES -
It is held that forest fires resulting from human activity or mistake have caused the elimination of many sps. of wild life.
3. DISTRUCTION OF HABITATES -
Destruction of natural habitats causes the most serious threat to wild life.
Habitats are destroyed by many human activities due to development work, deforestation, pollution, cleanliness (vultures are about to extinct).
4. PHYSICAL ALTERATION OF ENVIRONMENT -
Any physical change in the routes of the migratory birds or fishes adversely affects them.
