A beam has a solid square cross section of 100mm and is simply supported by two supports 3 metres apart. Cauculate the dead load that can be safely supported when applied to the midle of the beam.
sigma = M/Z
M = 3W/4
Z = d^3/6
Sigma = (3W/4) / (d^3/6) now must rearrange the formula to find W and then substitute in the correct values.
