Problem: We have provided several cases of genocide that have occurred in the 20th century. You can find more detailed information about these cases and others at the Amnesty International website. You can also find information on genocides from other organizations, including the UN and Human Rights Watch. Conduct case studies of at least two cases of genocide that were alleged to have occurred after 1960. What are the factors that were present in these cases that were the precursors to the mass killings? How long did the killing go on before the international community introduced mechanisms to stop them? What policies could the international community have in place that would better be able to prevent such atrocities in the future?
