Case Study: Happy Places
Colin is the CEO of Happy Places day centres.
Happy Places are located in 4 different London Boroughs; Southwark, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Newham.
Each day centre is open daily from 10am - 3pm and offers social activities for 15 young adults who have Cerebal Palsy (aged 18-24).
The staff team in each centre consists of:
- Centre Manager
- 1 Deputy Manager
- 1 Team Leader
- 1 Registered Learning Disability Nurse
- 3 Support Workers
- 1 Student Social Worker (on placement)
Every week each staff team holds a centre meeting. The information from these meetings is then fed back to Colin by the centre managers in monthly senior management meetings. Colin uses this information to decide how Happy Places should continue to grow and develop.
After having undertaken a review of Happy Places, you are required to write a briefing paper for Colin. In the briefing paper you should:
1. Describe the type of organisational structure in Happy Places.
2. Explain how the organisational structure in Happy Places could impact on its culture.
3. Discuss the role and responsibilities of each centre manager.
