I agree with you in that mentoring programs help "to tackle complex human resource challenges such as increasing employee retention, improving workforce productivity and enhancing career growth and leadership development." In the past, managers could be autocratic or enlightened and could dictate direction to their teams; however, today's workplace does not support this style of management any longer. Now managers must be able to assist the team by working along side each individual to mentor and or train to ensure morale stays high and also promotes confidence in each individual which can lead to the team becoming more proficient and efficient on daily tasks and providing knowledge that can further each members career.
