Problem
Throughout much of 2010, the talk of deflation persisted, even though the price level was rising. It was as though people preferred to live in a world of rising, rather than falling (or even stable), prices. Can you suggest an explanation for people's preferences that there be inflation rather than deflation of stable prices?
