Assignment task: Reflect on gendered representation of the wilderness.
1. Visit a local park or outdoor space with a friend. Engage in a casual observation of the park.
2. As you experience the local park, look for the following:
- Who is present in this space? Children, young adults, older people?
- Are most people in groups or alone?
- Can you make any gendered observations?
- Is the space busy or quiet?
- Who has the most immediate access to this outdoor space? What do the nearby homes look like?
