Terrorism would not exist without the media. Sending images of a terrorist attack causes terror on a global scale and accomplishes a major goal of a terrorist group: coercion of a population to include fear. There is a symbiotic relationship between the media and the terrorists. Symbiotic means there is a mutual benefiting relationship. Al-Qaeda had a media advisor and strategized on how to get maximum exposure. Media can affect individual terrorist behavior by giving them tactical information about ongoing situations.
