Caluculate the stress in the rod and tube


A steel rod 20mm diameter is passesthrough a brass tube 25mm internal diameter and 30mm external diameter. The tube is 1m long and is closed by thin rigid washers and fastened by nuts, screwed to the rod, the nuts are tightened untill the comppressive force in the tube is 5kN. Caluculate the stress in the rod and tube. Es=200GPa, Eb=80GPa.
