Calculation of Aggregate Technical and Commercial Loss
The concept of AT&C loss was introduced within 2001-02. The AT&C losses are presently in the range of 18% to 62% in several states. The national average AT&C loss of the distribution companies in the year 2002-03 was 36.63% and has reduced to 33.82% in the year 2004-05. There is huge variation of losses between the states and variation between the Discoms inside the states. An AT&C loss for the Distribution utilities for the years 2002-03 to 2004-05
The method of calculating AT&C loss is given in Box 10.3.
Calculation of AT&C Loss
AT & C loss (%) = (Energy input - Energy realised) × 100/Energy input
Energy realised = Energy billed × Collection efficiency
where Collection efficiency (%) = Amount realised × 100/Amount billed
