Calculating horizontal deflection


Question 1: A truss is shown in the figure below. Calculate the horizontal deflection of joint D produced by both the load and fabrication error (bar AE is 30mm too long). For all the bars, area A = 1000 mm2, E = 200 GPa.

Question 2: Solve the support reactions at A and D using the force method. A is a fixed support; B and C are rigid joint and D is the pin support. EI is constant for all the members.
