Problem 1: Know that you are using compound light microscopes in the microbiology laboratory.
Problem 2: Know the names and magnifications of each objective lens and the ocular lens, and be able to calculate total magnification.
Problem 3: Identify the following parts of the microscope and give their function: ocular, objectives, revolving nosepiece, stage, mechanical stage control, stage aperture, diaphragm, condenser, coarse adjustment knob, fine adjustment knob, arm, head, and base.
Problem 4: Outline proper microscopy technique, including handling/care/storage of microscopes as well as steps for focusing.
