A propeller drive shaft is to transmit 2500 hp at 75 rpm. It is to be made of AISI 1040 WQT 1300 steel. Use a design factor of 6 based on the yield strength in shear. The shaft is to be hollow, with the inside diameter equal to 0.80 times the outside diameter. Determine the required diameter of the shaft.
