A water sample has the following composition.
NH4+ = 44 mg/L
NO3 = 7.6 mg/L
NO2 = 3.1 mg/L
C6H14O2N2 = 239 mg/L
a) calculate amount of organic oxygen present (mg N/L)
b) calculate amount of inorganic oxygen present (mg N/L)
c) Calculate amount of keljdahl nitrogen present (mg N/L)
d) Calculate total Nitrogen present (mg N/L)
e) Calculate theoretical carbonaceous oxygen demand. (mg / L)
f) Calculate the carbonaceous BOD5 (mg/L) assuming k = 0.25 day^-1. Use the theoretical carbonaceous oxygen demand to predict ultimate cBOD (Lo).
g) Calculate total possible (theoretical) nitrogenous oxygen demand (mg/L). Note: remember to include the ammonia related when the organic compound is bio-degraded.
