Assignment: Door Or Gate Position Switches
According to Fennelly (2017), electrified panic hardware is required on doors where there could be a large number of people needing exit in an emergency. A single exit motion is needed to move though the door. Door and gate position switches (DPS) are used to sense rather a door is open or closed. The following are DPS types:
• Magnet switch
• Plunger switch
• Hall effect switch
• Mercury switch
Briefly summarize the advantages and disadvantages of each switch. Then conclude with comments on your preferred switch. Make sure to mention why you selected the switch.
