Brian has been diagnosed a psychopath because he seems to lack a conscience, commits many crimes, and appears to be unable to care about others except in the most superficial way. Psychopaths are notoriously untreatable by psychotherapy, and medication doesn't seem to address the basic problem (no conscience). Scientific research suggests that psychopaths are born, not made.
