Be a “two-handed economist” and, In approximately ONE typed page (single-spaced), please explore ONE of the following issues using the concepts and materials from the course. By two-handed economist, I mean that you should not just present your opinion. Rather, present two perspectives on the issue, as in “On the one hand…. But on the other hand…..”
a) Economic growth is more than important for solving global environmental problems like mass extinction; it is essential. [Hint: don’t neglect distinctions between growth and development.]
b) Command and control regulation is/is not always more efficient, or cost-effective, than market-based solutions.
c) “Sustainable development” should have the same meaning everywhere, but it will never look exactly the same in any two places.
d) “Weak sustainability” is a good enough goal for some environmental issues, but “strong sustainability” is necessary for others.
