Basic process involved in project closure 

The end deliverables becomes the focus of the closure plan, that is,  to ensure a high level of end user satisfaction. Hence processes and activities are required for formal closure. This shows that the project objective has been met, and it offers a sense of achievement for the project team.  

The basic process of the Project Closure Phase involves:  

1. Administrative closure: It is the process of preparing for the closure of the documents and process deliverables. It includes the release and redeployment of the Project Resources. These activities relate to the overall management and oversight of the project.  It includes: 
2. Decide how you'll test deliverables (Few projects conduct testing before the closure project stage.) 
3. Establish a plan to review and analyse 'open' issues. 
4. Decide how to collect project records, and who will be  responsible for doing so.  
5. Determine how we analyse success or failure 
6. Gather lessons learned so we can apply them in future.
7. Plan for knowledge transfer. If we used outside consultants, decide how we to confine and maintain their knowledge of the project details.  
8. Establish project finances. This includes information like closing project codes in the finance system, and accounting for any remaining assets. The Project closure ends with a closing of all project accounts and a final project calculation is carried out.
9. Decide how to manage communication related to closure.
