PORTFOLIO:Becoming a Professional (Portfolio) (1500 Max Words)
COMPONENT A:
Throughout the term, you will complete a Personal Development Portfolio (PDP) which consists of four learning tasks, focusing on the knowledge and skills required to address the contemporary challenges faced by managers.
It will also include a reflective commentary in which you will reflect on the experience and processes of the module and how these may inform your understanding of your future career. Each task will have a clear brief for you to address and will be submitted during the designated tutorial.
The focus will be on ensuring you demonstrate your understanding of the distinctive features of studying business as a broad, comprehensive degree programme and recognise the potential future professional pathways available to you.
The PDP portfolio will consist of the following four areas:
Global management
Management skills and Careers
Ethics and CSR
Technology
Portfolio Task One:
Critically reflect on why a global perspective is important to today's manager? Through your degree, how will you be able to develop an awareness of the issues facing global organisations?
Portfolio Task Two:
Based on your skills audit and the content of the module, what skills will you seek to develop while studying your degree and how will this be achieved?
Portfolio Task Three:
Using examples of previous technological developments, what role do managers play in responding to technological change? How will your degree give you insight into the role of technology in organisations?
Portfolio Task Four:
How easy is it for mangers to ensure their practice is ethical? Why is an awareness of ethics and CSR crucial for future managers?
