Article summary:
The textbook only covers so much information; therefore, extra readings in the form of research articles have been assigned. When you are required to read the article, you are required to write a summary of the article. Each summary must be typed and is due the day we discuss the article. These summaries will be used to facilitate discussion. Each summary must be 1-2 pages and typed.
Each summary must contain three parts:
1. A summary of the research. What is the author’s research question(s) or hypothesis? What were their results? How did they conduct the study.
2. How does this article relate to the corresponding book chapter? What overlap do you see? How does the article relate to interpersonal communication?
3. A critical critique. What is your opinion about the article? What new thing did you learn? What can you take from the article and apply to your own life?
You must complete 8 out of 12 assigned article summaries.
Com 212-01 Instructions: You need to complete the summary prior to class. This way you will have “notes” that will help you participate during class discussion. Your responses must be typed and a hard copy brought to class.
I will not accept hand written or unstapled responses. Nor will I accept documents displayed on your computer screen.
