assessment the child with wilms tumour will

Assessment

The child with wilm's tumour will present you with a large mass in the loin or an enlarging abdomen. This mass may be noticed accidently by  the parent of  the child while bathing or dressing the child or while routine examination by doctor. There may be haematuria, anaemia due to blood loss or due to nutritional and malignant factors and anorexia, loss of weight and fever.

Diagnostic evaluation includes plain X-ray abdomen which shows soft tissue opacity displacing the gut. Intravenous pyelography shows distortion of  calyces by a mass within the kidney. Urine analysis may reveal hematuria and bone marrow examination may rarely show metastasis. X-ray chest may be  taken to detect any metastasis in the lungs.
