Assessment of Peripheral Vascular Perfusion (Beside Test)
Burger's Postural Test
- Perform in daylight.
- Place patient supine with both legs elevated and knees straight.
- Support patient's legs while he flexes and extends ankles and toes to the point of mild fatigue.
- Check the soles for a cadaveric pallor and empty, guttered dorsal veins.
- Have patient lower his feet and adopt sitting position. In 2 to 3 minutes, check feet for a ruddy cyanotic hue.
- Positive findings indicate defective arterial blood supply.
