Assessment of Peripheral Vascular Perfusion (Beside Test)

Burger's Postural Test

1. Perform in daylight. 
2. Place patient supine with both legs elevated and knees straight.
3. Support patient's legs while he flexes and extends ankles and toes to the point of mild fatigue. 
4. Check the soles for a cadaveric pallor and empty, guttered dorsal veins. 
5. Have patient lower his feet and adopt sitting position. In 2 to 3 minutes, check feet for a ruddy cyanotic hue. 
6. Positive findings indicate defective arterial blood supply.
