Assess parental stress and behaviors of children with asd

Problem:

The methodology that was used in this study was an RCT (Randomized Controlled Trial). The American Psychological Association (2015) define random control as "a control condition for Classical Conditioning in which the conditioned stimulus and the unconditioned stimulus are presented with equal probability but independent of each other" (p. 877). Classical Conditioning occurs when a conditioned stimulus is paired with an unconditioned stimulus, resulting in a conditioned response (APA, 2015). In this study, the conditioned stimulus was the presence of ASD and the unconditioned stimulus was the application of Functional Communication Training (FCT) (Scott et al., 2020). The study was quasi-experimental, as the children were not randomly assigned, they all had ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The children involved were observed, making this a qualitative study. Data was also collected from the parents about their satisfaction with the study, which was quantitative. A Likert Scale was used to assess this satisfaction (Scott et al.,). The study recommends that applied behavioral analysis (ABA) use telehealth to deliver meaningful training to parents of children with ASD at least one hour weekly (Scott et al.,). They recommend that further studies be done to assess parental stress and other behaviors of children with ASD
