Vision and plan for career
As a management major, Describe what is important for your professional future and the fundamental goals that you would like to achieve in your life after graduate.
Imagine how you would picture yourself in 15 years (most of you will be in their early forties). What would be your professional situation at this horizon? Which industry would you like to work in? At which level? In which type of organization? Within which specialty?
This exercise is not easy because we are not used to think that far in our future. Many unknowns exist about the future. However, it is necessary to devote time to reflect on our objectives and goals in life.
Imagine that you are describing your avatar who is 40 and who meets you. What would he tell you?
Assignment 2: (minimum 600 words)
Job position of choice for the future
Once you have explored your future (in thoughts) determine a position that would fit your desire and capabilities and passion.
Then visit O*Net at onetonline website and enter into the Occupation Quick Search box that position. Review the job tasks, tools, and technology used, and the KSAOs. Review the education, experience, and training requirements and consider your fit for this position.
Write the job description of the position, using the knowledge acquired from the textbook and other external sources if you need to.
Write a report summarizing the position, its outlook, and what you should do now to start to prepare for this position. Determine an action plan with a calendar so you can benefit from a planning for your career. You can describe a position that you would like to have in 15 years or a position that is a milestone toward this position.
Assignment 3: (minimum 400 words)
Personality and learning style
Use online tests to determine your personality and your learning style and write a summary of the results.
Complete a first online inventory of your Learning style. Respond to the following questions based on these assessment results:
1. Do you agree with these assessments?
2. Do you notice a better outcome for you when the training modes that fit your learning style are used?
3. Given your assessed learning style preference, what types of training modes would be the best fit for you?
4. How can this type of information help organizations improve the effectiveness of their training programs?
You can also fill the online questionnaire to determine your profile on the Big Five personality traits.
Providing the results of the tests is optional. If you choose to provide the results, please do so in an annex. Please write a text that describe your learning style and which modes of learning fit best to you.
Assignment 4: (minimum 400 words)
Motivated
Write a text about what motivates you. Propose a list of incentives or elements that are critical for you in the choice of a position and the elements that would be the most susceptible to generate job satisfaction and involvement in your job. You can rank these elements and for example assign points to them to rank them. Do you believe that this set of "motivators" is going to evolve between now and 15 years from now? How could they evolve?
Assignment 5: (minimum 300 words)
Employment relationship
Answer the following questions:
1. Do you feel that the employment relationship is more legal and contractual or a fundamental human relationship involving more fundamental human rights? Explain your answer.
2. As a worker, would you prefer to be represented by a labor union? Why or why not?
3. If you were an HR manager and learned that union representatives have begun approaching your employees to encourage them to sign union authorization cards, what would you do in your role as a manager?
