Purpose: In this assessment piece will give you the opportunity to develop the ability to find and make use of evidence from scholarly sources (i.e., academic literature). You will also need to understand and analyze an unfamiliar domain. This is an independent research project.
Assignment Topic
This Semester's UCD Project "Autonomy Dementia Support' is focused on developing an app to help monitoring people with dementia (PwD) using GPS tracking systems. Although we have access to some interview data (see Doubtfire/4.1P/Resources/UCD Project Inter- view Data) we do not have the resources to do a large scale study ourselves. Therefore, we are turning to the academic literature to help us understand the issues we may face in de- signing tracking systems for PwD.
Your task for this assignment is to briefly review one or more of the following academic pa- pers related to GPS tracking of PwD:
Cooper, J, Burrow, S, & Pusey, H 2019, What are the perceptions of people living with dementia, family carers, professionals and other potential stakeholders to the use of global positioning systems to promote safer outdoor walking?
In your review pay particular attention to:
- The user's attitudes towards the use of GPS technology to track people with dementia
- Any additional information about context of use not covered in the UCD Project Interview Data.
Conclude your report with a set of recommendations and/or requirements based on the re- search reviewed.
