Apply ethical principles to public health program planning

Assignment:

Social and Behavioral Aspects of Public Health

We learned about the three core functions of public health and the ten essential services. We examined how these essential services work to address public health issues. We also identified and discussed the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) and their relationship with health disparities.

We will delve into the individual health behavior theories used to develop public health interventions that reduce and eliminate public health issues. We will start by exploring individual health behavior theories and how those theories, when applied, impact health outcomes. Some examples of individual health behavior theories are the Health Belief Model (HBM), the Transtheoretical Model (TTM), and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). We will examine the purposes, similarities, and differences of various theories. We will also explore which theories should be applied to selected public health issues and interventions as well as how it should be done.

Objectives:

• Identify basic theories, concepts, and models from a range of social and behavioral disciplines that are used in public health research and practice.

• Apply evidence-based approaches in the development and evaluation of social and behavioral science interventions.
