In Unit 3, we have been learning about poetry. I would like you to try writing your own poem!
You can choose to write any form of poem: try a concrete and make you poem look like something; try a Shakespearean Sonnet and create a strong final couplet; try a free verse piece that might be difficult for readers to understand at first glance.
This assignment has two parts:
Part 1 - Write and submit your poem. This poem should appear as a final draft; it should be well thought out and worthy of publication.
Part 2 - Analyze your own work. Tell me about the message you conveyed, the literary theme, and any literary devices used. This analysis needs to be a complete paragraph (at least 150 words).
You will be graded on the following:
Possible
Poem - has the student submitted a unique poem that has been well developed. Is the poem complete and worthy of publication?
Analysis - has the student explained his or her piece? Has he or she given a complete analysis that discusses the message and literary components?
Grammar and Professionalism - has the work been edited for grammatical errors? Is the submission free from grammatical problems UNLESS used purposely in the poem?
