Exploiting business opportunities while delivering customer value is essential for any business. This endeavor should begin by identifying the project's CTQ (critical to quality), which can be captured by using a technique known as the Voice of the Customer (VOC). VOC allows the customer to articulate their expectations, preferences, or comments on a product or service in their words. Data collection techniques for capturing the Voice of the Customer may include include interviews, surveys, focus groups, mind mapping, facilitated workshops, etc.

a) Identify a specific VOC data-collection technique
b) Analyze the pros and cons of using it to collect data
