Research affects policy, and policy affects the day-to-day nursing practice and the lives of all nurses. Locally, research on nutrition has led to policies about what foods are offered in school vending machines and lunches. Nationally, research on underinsured and uninsured people led to the creation of the Affordable Care Act.
Complete the following:
o Choose an area of research that has led to a policy, and analyze how that policy has changed your environment, either personally or professionally.
Potential topics to discuss: Smoking is linked to development of lung cancer which lead to changes in the age when smoking is legal and where smoking can occur in public places.
