Analyze, evaluate and make strategic recommendations to improve a workplace case based on your own organizational experience (current or past). Your analysis must integrate/synthesize your knowledge of at least 3 theories/concepts relevant to your case; be certain to identify the originators or primary authors of each theory. One theory/concept must be from each of the three levels of analysis (see list below) learned in this course. Pick at least one from each area to explain your case:
1. Theories of Individual Performance Style, Values, Perceptions,
2. Theories of Group Influence: Communication, Leadership, Power
3. Theories of Organizational Influences: Structure, Culture, Change
Sources and APA Formatting: The paper must be formatted in APA and include properly cited and referenced sources. Reference sources must be "legitimate"; that is, academic in nature (i.e., sources lean on bias such as peer reviewed journals and many industry association publications.) At a minimum, your sources must include
- 3 articles from academic, peer-reviewed journals and
- 2 articles from current publications including white papers (e.g., Knowledge@Wharton, McKinsey Online, Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan Management Review, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Leader to Leader, DDI Thought Leadership and other varied sources that will enable you to gain insight into current thinking on OB issues. Do NOT use sources like Changing Minds, Wikipedia, or other repositories of thought bytes, blogs etc. (If in doubt, ask permission to use a particular source.)
Interviews: Your analysis must also include 2 personal interviews from individuals in positions with relevant insight into the issues presented in your case analysis. Ideally, you will seek out perspectives from two of the three levels of analysis: individual, group or organizational perspectives. This will allow you to develop insight regarding the multiple perspectives of an issue. Decide whether you would like to interview someone you have direct access to or someone you have to challenge yourself to reach (someone you admire, someone you care about, etc.)
