Research two GUI tools, create a bar graph, and be required to perform an in-depth analysis of one specific forensic suite program.
Research two popular GUI tools:
- Guidance Software EnCase
- Access Data FTK, or
- Another Forensic Suite of your choice (you may use the forensic suites
Compare their features to other products, such as:
- ProDiscover, or
- Ontracks EasyRecover Professional
Create a bar chart outlining each tool's current capabilities.
The chart should clearly indicate which software product you would recommend.
Select a computer forensic suite, preferably one that has a demo available that you can install (AccessFTK and SANS SIFT are two such programs.).
Install one of the forensic suites you researched.
Write a 700-1,050 word summary analyzing the forensic suite you selected.
- Include the following in your summary:
- The usability of the program
- The graphical interface (GUI)
- The overall experience and benefit of the program (can it output a forensic file meeting the minimum legal standards)
- Any additional elements you believe are important
- Discuss the features you would find most beneficial in creating your own lab.
- Use at least two outside research sources including academic journals to support your view.
- Include your bar graph in your final paper.

- Length should be 3 - 5 pages, excluding cover page and references page
- Viewpoint and purpose should be clearly established and sustained
- Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.).
- Writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful
- Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics
- Appropriate citation style should be followed
- You should also make sure to:
- Include a title page with full name, class name, section number, and date
- Include an introductory and concluding paragraph and demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English
- Use double-space and Arial or Times New Roman in 12 point font size
- Use examples to support your discussion
