An uncharged solid metal sphere of radius r 172 mm sits

An uncharged solid metal sphere of radius R = 1.72 mm sits with its center at a distance of D = 63.1 cm from two point charges ± q = ± 4.9 × 10^–8 C which form a dipole. The two point charges are separated by a distance d = 8.04\mu m, as shown in the figure (not to scale!).

1. Calculate the force exerted on the sphere by the dipole

2. Calculate the approximate electric dipole moment induced in the sphere.

3. Discuss the charge distribution in/on the sphere. Draw a sketch of the sphere, showing the charge distribution.
