Computerized Operating Systems
As we all know that an Operating system manages the hardware of a computer. Now a days computing environment has become vast, so an operating system should be able to complete the task in complex environment. Operating systems include Internet of Things.
An operating system can be considered as a resource allocator as it acts as a manager by allocating right resource to the right place. The resources are such as memory space, I/O devices, storage space etc. Operating systems consist of many aspects, out of all the aspects, one of the most important aspects is its capability of running various programs. This also leads to high CPU utilization.
Linux Vs Android
Linux was generally designed for the users who use personal computers and to provide them low cost operating systems when compared to the other traditional operating systems that were expensive. It does provide fast performing operating systems. Android was mainly designed for mobile devices which consists of OS, MW (Middleware) and various key applications.
Linux operates efficiently and performs well on a limited function device. It consumes less power and provides utmost benefits when it is used on a device that is minted to certain changes whereas Android is well efficient with tablets and smartphones etc which are definitely not limited to any kind of fixed functionalities.
One of main differences between Linux and Android OS is Linux is more about providing operations with mouse and keyboard whereas Android is heavily inclined towards operations related to touch. Android provides the ability to users to define their own style or pattern usage. It gives the users an opportunity to upgrade to the latest apps or programs or latest platform whenever they want. In terms of memory, Linux uses hard drives such as magnetic drives whereas Android uses flash memory.
In terms of power management which is very important due to increase in the demand of power due to various modern desktops and laptops, Linux uses Advanced Power Management (APM) and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) whereas Android uses its own PowerManager.
