Low-cycle fatigue was the cause of the Comet failures. Estimate how many pressurization-depressurization cycles the planes may have experienced in the two years of operations. An exact answer is not possible, but by making a reason- able guess of the number of landings per day and the number of days of service a rough estimate is possible.
