Advocacy efforts on behalf of clients in the future

Assignment task: Please respond to the post below sharing your plan for continuing your advocacy efforts on behalf of clients in the future. Please use 7th edition a p a format This class really had me thinking on the different ways that policies are created. I work with state policies everyday in my line of work and I would constantly question why some places were written the way they were and how no one noticed the wholes. Those policies are evaluated in 2 different methods and can result in very different finds. Analytic -Descriptive method takes apart the policy and looks at its historical aspect, legal aspect, and policy alignment. Then the policy is viewed as it fits together as a whole, and if it does so logically. Then the policy is finally analyzed on how it should work (Social Policy and Social Programs, 2014, Pg. 29). Meanwhile, the value critical approach compares how a policy should work vs. how it likely works in the real world. It does not analyze the context the policy was created for but instead tries to find any issues that may occur and illogical inconsistencies in the everyday use of the policy (Social Policy and Social Programs, 2014, Pg. 30). So if the policy is just looked at if it was written to answer a problem then its fine, if it doesn't work the way it is intended if using the analytic-descriptive method. This can directly affect our clients because it doesn't take the human factor and because we are working with people the policy may be flawed. I learned in this course to question more on why we are doing things the way we are to look deeper into the policies. I wrote my paper on change in medical policy effecting my clients this led me to look into how my company was not following even older standards because that the way things always were. This helped to make a better system of checks and balances on new policies or at least that's the end goal. Reference: Chambers, D. E., & Bonk, J. F. (2014).
