Advertisement Observations
Next time you are watching TV, surfing the Internet, or reading a magazine, I want you to pay close attention to the commercials and advertisements. In a 1-2 page typed essay, describe some of the different things you notice. For example, you may notice that a lot of ads use humor to sell their products, while others use sexuality. You may notice that some ads are very loud, contain a lot of bright colors, and are full of action; other ads, however, may be simple and quiet. You may also notice that some ads seem to be speaking to women, while others are speaking to men. Try to be specific when you are writing about the commercials you see (try to name product names if you can remember them). You do not need to focus on one commercial; rather, I want you to look at a bunch of commercials and respond to them as a whole.
