Adorno claims that all popular music is pre-digested and

Adorno claims that all popular music is "pre-digested", and thus "hears for the listener" (Storey p. 67). He believes more generally that the formulaic nature of much popular culture reduces the potential of art to provoke us to experience social reality in new and revolutionary ways. While Adorno is writing about an earlier moment in time, many media scholars have applied his theories to contemporary popular culture. Do you agree or disagree with Adorno's claim? If you agree with him, offer current examples that help demonstrate this. If you disagree, offer examples that counter his claims. Is there a danger to leaving the production of culture in the hands of what Adorno called the culture industry?
