The pamphlet also mentions that treatment for prostate cancer can cause serious side effects and that most men diagnosed with prostate cancer die of other causes. (Some prostate cancers are aggressive and spread, but most don't.) The last two facts are unrelated to the reliability of the test as assessed by its PPV. Explain why they are nonetheless important considerations in deciding whether to include a PSA test as part of routine medical check-ups for men older than age 50.
