ACCESSORY GLANDS -
1. PROSTATE GLAND -
One in number, 4-5 lobed, it forms 15-30% of semen.Citric acid, lipid, acid phosphatase spermin, fibrinolysine are present.
Fructose present. Spermin neutriliges infection of bacteria.
Fibrinolysine stops coagulation of semen. So semen is convered in to liquid in this way sperms are not encapsulated.
2. COWPER'S GLAND (BULBO-URETHRAL GLAND) -
1 pair, situated on left side of urethra. Its basic secretion neutrilizes acidic media in urethra. It is secreted before semen.
3. PREPUTIAL OR TYSON'S GLAND -
Oily secretion is helpful in copulation. White, foul smelling accumulation under prepuce is called smegma.
